Malaysian Geniuses Revisited March 14, 2007

Posted by Tim in Malaysia.

It’s that time of year again: SPM results!

Still oodles of As, but a slight drop this time compared to last year (1.1% fewer A1s, 0.1% fewer straight A-ers). Darn it, I was revving up to post a biting Onion-style article if the results went up again.

Apparently the higher-ups may have caught on that the abolishing of exam fees for up to 12 subjects (RM10.50 per paper after the first 12) is a little too good of a bargain. The media is starting to play up the issue as well.

I mean, when a student has already lined up two books on her achievements (she took 19[!] subjects) to be published, it’s a sure sign that the exam system needs an overhaul.

On a side note, females did a little better than the males overall – I guess none of them blog, heh.
